A sesquicentennial project of mine, if you will. Links below are to posts with modern maps of the battlefields noting the locations of artillery pieces on display. These are the locations documented during my site visits. The National Park Service can, and often does, move the guns around for many good reasons. So consider the locations noted with that in mind. If you run across a cannon that has been “walked” to a new location, please let me know.
Shiloh – Ruggles Battery
In addition, I did a post showing the locations of cannons in Fort Sumter at the time of the April 1861 bombardment (a hover over picture with links to details about the type of weapon at each station). The companion piece is less interactive, but notes the locations of Confederate batteries firing on the fort.
