Walk in the Army of the Potomac’s footsteps – Bridging the Potomac, Edwards Ferry Tour: June 30, 2015

Over the last couple of years, I’ve received several inquiries about repeating the tours of Edwards Ferry given at the time of the sesquicentennial.  Last year everyone, including me, was tied up with 1864 events.  But we don’t have that excuse this year!

Here’s the details:

What: Bridging the Potomac: Edwards Ferry, 152nd Anniversary of the Army of the Potomac’s crossing, during the Gettysburg Campaign.

When:  June 30, 2015.  Starts at 6 pm.  Ends around 8 pm.

Where: Kephart Bridge Landing (Elizabeth Mills Waterfront Park), 43942 Riverpoint Dr, Leesburg, Virginia, 20176.

The best way to reach the site is off the Leesburg Pike (Virginia Highway 7), onto Belmont Ridge Road.  The map below offers the best route through the subdivision to reach the park:

The tour will include a hike down to the crossing site (about two miles round trip).  The terrain is not formidable, but along the creek bank.  So I advise wearing good walking shoes at least.  And being in the “bottom land,” I’d recommend a dose of bug spray!

Hope to see you there!
