Civil War Break for Baseball

Reading this blog, I bet you think my life is just centered around Civil War stuff.  I don’t like to show my partisanship, let me simply say my team is in the post-season.  Facebook pals, know who, but I’ll leave the rest of you folks guessing.

At the risk of getting all Ken Burns-ish … I’ve always felt baseball is a good metaphor applied to the Civil War.  Perhaps. Or maybe not.

At any rate, you can’t deny the link between the game’s origin, rise in popularity, and the Civil War.

Doubleday?  Naw.

But they did pattern the shape of home plate after the layout of Fort Pulaski:
