I could visit the Blue Ridge Parkway/Skyline Drive a hundred times and not catch a moment like this:
A typical summer thunderstorm blew through the Valley in the late afternoon. We reached the Skyline Drive just as the clouds cleared. We were looking all about for rainbows, bears, and deer.
The range behind the sun’s spotlight is Massanutten. The break in the mountains is New Market Gap.
We drive the park about six times a year. Each time there are little surprises like this.
