I’ll be at the Civil War Navy Conference today at the Mariners Museum (no Harry, not the Seattle Mariners!). Last night, historian Harold Holzer kicked things off with a presentation on naval depictions in Civil War art. I’d forgotten the impression that the USS Kearsarge-CSS Alabama duel left on the French Impressionists.
As with last week’s event at Longwood University, I’ll post updates on Twitter when possible. Also check the Civil War Navy Sesquicentennial page for updates. The day is packed, packed with many good speakers. So if you are down on this end of the Virginia Peninsula, do stop by!
