I’m still catching up after an extended weekend trip that lasted through Monday. With business in Richmond, I managed to swing through the Hampton area and conclude with a few “Seven Days” battlefield walks. I’ve posted some of my trip report regarding stops at Big Bethel and the Army Transportation Museum. In addition, I’ve made the pitch for Fort Monroe over on “Bring the HEAT” (along with a spot on a cyborg walking machine on display at the Transportation Museum the Army experimented with in the 1970s).
Tonight at the Loudoun County Civil War Rountable, historian Clayton Newell discusses the early war in western Virginia (not yet West Virginia). I’ve also posted an extended list of events for the Manassas 150 observance. So sesquicentennial all around!
One slight change I’ve made to the artillery pages – if you look at the dropdown for the artillery pages, you’ll see cascades for sub-pages where needed. I’d decided that my list of links was getting long and I needed to segment the material better. So now you see pages just for 6-pdr field guns, 12-pdr howitzers, 12-pdr Napoleons, and Dahlgren boat howitzers. More will follow in time.
Sorry for a non-substantive post. But I’ll make it up in the next few weeks, promise!
